Each year Cedo Nulli participates on behalf of the Erasmus University Rotterdam (EUR) in NMUN’s New York conference. Our delegation of fourteen highly motivated students will represent a UN Member State during the conference and interact with students from all over the world. Over the course of six months, students will hone their skills under the guidance of two experienced former delegates and numerous guest speakers.
Preparations for the simulation in New York consist of weekly trainings on Tuesday evenings. We will discuss topics like ‘What are the functions and powers of the UN’ and ‘How can we best represent our (yet unknown) Member State’? Acquiring practical skills in lobbying, negotiating, public speaking, and resolution writing will form the largest part of the preparation process. These skills are extremely beneficial for any student within the Erasmus School of Social and Behavioural Sciences. Total costs, including trainings, travel, and stay, are € 700,- per delegate.

What is National Model United Nations?
The National Model United Nations is the biggest and most prestigious Model United Nations in the world. During the conference over 5000 university students from all over the world discuss current global issues in a simulated real world context. NMUN-New York offers 23 simulated UN committees, 130 different member states and 2 wonderful locations. The conference ends in the General Assembly hall of the United Nations Headquarter in New York.
Each year Cedo Nulli participates on behalf of the Erasmus University Rotterdam (EUR) in NMUN’s New York conference. Our delegation of fourteen highly motivated students will represent a UN Member State during the conference and interact with students from all over the world. Over the course of six months, students will develop their skills under the guidance of two trainers, who are experienced former delegates, and numerous guest speakers.
When will the conference be?
The conference will be from the 24th until the 28th of March. However we will leave for the United States of America (both Washington D.C. and New York) around the 16th of March and we will return around the 30th of March
The trainings will be every Tuesday evening, except for Christmas break. They will be from 19:00 until 22:30. The trainings will teach you how to lobby, negotiate, speech, write resolutions, and train you in international relations, member state information, rules of procedure and nonverbal communications.
How about my school work?
Due to this project and the trip itself you will miss some classes. However the University and faculty support the NMUN project, so the examination board will allow you to miss those classes. The missed classes are often compensated with an assignment.
Who can Apply?
All students from the Erasmus School of Behavioral and Social Science can apply. That means students of Public Administration, Sociology, Psychology, Pedagogical Sciences and Management of International Social Challenges (MISOC) can apply.
However you need to be a fulltime student at this faculty. To do a minor in one of these fields is not enough. You can be both an international or a national student and it does not matter if you are a first year Bachelor student or a Master student. You do need to be aware that the trainings will be every Tuesday, so make sure that you actually can attend these trainings.
What are the costs of this project?
Students have to pay 750 euros and become part of the study association Cedo Nulli (do not worry, there is no hazing). For these 750 euros the flights, the trainings, the hotels and the conference are included.
Why should I Apply?
If you are interested in discussing global issues, if you want to be able to speech in front of hundreds of people, if you are motivated to develop your diplomatic and negotiating skills, if you want to meet new people and become part of a team with one mission, if you want to work hard to become the best diplomat you can be and if you are eager to visit Washington D.C. and New York; then you should apply for this project. This project gives you a perfect opportunity to learn important skills, to understand international conflicts, to advance your horizons and to become a diplomat.
